The Chinese presence in Milan began around 1920 with massive immigration from the Zhejiang region, especially from the city of Wenzhou, from which about 90% of the Chinese people reside in Italy. The first Chinese to settle there was the leather worker Wang Sang ( 1919 - 2009 ), called "Romanino", in Milan since 1937, also active in cultural mediation.
Since the 2000s the business has become increasingly branched, including almost any form of commercial activity, no longer only wholesale but retail: clothing stores, telephony, high technology gadgets, cameras, photography optics; in addition, many shops are born that offer services, such as assistance and repair of computers and cell phones, services for immigrants, travel agencies, hairdressers, beauticians and internet points.
